Success Is Not Achieving Success - 977 Words

Tangible Success Success is something often strived for but not clearly defined. One cannot reach success without first establishing the bounds in which it resides. Without having a general understanding of where success is, it will always be two steps in front of you, causing it to be nearly unreachable. I am incapable of providing a perfect description of success but I am going to attempt to establish the foundation of its definition. Success can be achieved by first interpreting the meaning of failure then thoroughly discussing some frequently mistaken beliefs. Finally, we can start laying groundwork for defining success. Failure is simply defined as the lack of success (failure.). Ironically, it is nearly a requirement to fail in order to understand success. Failure is not necessarily a bad thing and should not be looked down upon. Failing is not achieving, but from failure we gain experience allowing us to achieve in the future. There is comfort in knowing that every single successful person has failed at least once to get where they are now. Thomas Edison had been recorded on many occasions saying that he had not failed one thousand or more times, he just found one thousand ways not to do something (â€Å"I Have Gotten a Lot of Results! I Know Several Thousand Things That Won’t Work.†). The most predominant misunderstanding of success is that it’s attained through wealth.
