Success Is Not Achieving Success - 977 Words

Tangible Success Success is something often strived for but not clearly defined. One cannot reach success without first establishing the bounds in which it resides. Without having a general understanding of where success is, it will always be two steps in front of you, causing it to be nearly unreachable. I am incapable of providing a perfect description of success but I am going to attempt to establish the foundation of its definition. Success can be achieved by first interpreting the meaning of failure then thoroughly discussing some frequently mistaken beliefs. Finally, we can start laying groundwork for defining success. Failure is simply defined as the lack of success (failure.). Ironically, it is nearly a requirement to fail in order to understand success. Failure is not necessarily a bad thing and should not be looked down upon. Failing is not achieving, but from failure we gain experience allowing us to achieve in the future. There is comfort in knowing that every single successful person has failed at least once to get where they are now. Thomas Edison had been recorded on many occasions saying that he had not failed one thousand or more times, he just found one thousand ways not to do something (â€Å"I Have Gotten a Lot of Results! How Aldous Huxley And Ralph Ellison - 1307 Words

Social, cultural elements, and political ideals often influence how literature is written and stated during that specific time period. Political, culture, and social elements defined how Aldous Huxley and Ralph Ellison wrote their popular books Brave New World and Invisible Man. These factors include lust, advancement of technology, and racism. Aldous Huxley was a British writer and philosopher born in Godalming, England on July 26, 1894 and wrote the famed book Brave New World. This author lived through the time period in which Henry Ford helped expand, manufacturing, and create new ideas. These ideas and goods were quickly made in mass quantity and steadily progressed. Well the time period he wrote this is 1945 and he did not even have the right to vote. When he says this he means that he is not in fact invisible its just that people ignore him because their prejudice. Another example of this is when he meets some new people and they force him into a ring with other African American males blindfolded and told to viciously fight. In the book it quotes â€Å" The smoke was agonizing and there were no rounds, no bells at three-minute intervals to relieve our exhaustion. The room spun around me, a swirl of lights, smoke, sweating bodies surrounded by tense white faces. I bled from nose to mouth, the blood splattering upon my chest.†(Ralph Ellison - Invisible Man). This part of the book shows how twisted and how bad it is in the current location. All of this is happening just because of the skin color of the African Americans. Not only does that quote show the vile way they are being treated, but this quote speaks of African Americans crawling over a electrocuted matt to get money or as they say in the book â€Å"a yellow coin†.â€Å"I lunged for a yellow coin lying on the blue designShow MoreRelated Comparing Invisible Man and Brave New World Essay3518 Words   |  15 PagesComparing Invisible Man and Brave New World      Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Both Ellison’s The Invisible Man and Aldous Huxleys Brave New World are political in nature, and at this level, seem completely dissimilar. Essay on Oedipus the King - 2013 Words

Irony is â€Å"incongruity between the actual results of a sequence of events and the normal or expected results (Merriam – Webster).† This means that a person may think that something is going to happen based on what they see or what they believe, when in reality the exact opposite happens. Irony can be further specified as dramatic or tragic irony. These types of irony often occur in plays, stories, and movies; where viewers or readers are led in one direction and director or author reveals different results than what is expected. The sudden twists and turns create drama and keep people interested thus, deserving the name dramatic irony. In the play Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, things are not as they seem. According to Matt Wolf of the†¦show more content†¦Oedipus alludes to his future here by swearing to run Laios’ killer out of the city even if it is someone close to him. This is ironic because later in the story Oedipus himself is the one who was exile d from Thebes. After the chorus in the play sends a prayer to the Gods to save Thebes from the plague, ironically their answer arrives in the flesh. Oedipus responds to the chorus vowing to solve the mystery of Laios’s murder. This is ironic because Oedipus himself is the murderer and in the end does exile himself and relieved the city of the plague. At times the irony is so apparent that it seems as if Oedipus wants to bring disaster upon himself. Teiresias comes to Thebes where Oedipus begs him to purify himself Thebes and me (17). Teiresias responds with how dreadful knowledge of the truth can be when there is no help in the truth! I knew this well, but made myself forget it. I should not have come (17). Oedipus is at first confused by what Teiresias has to say, but begins to grow irritated when Teiresias tries to leave. Teiresias tries to warn Oedipus that he does not want to know the truth by saying let me go home. Bear your own fate, and Ill bear mine. It is better so: trust what I say (17). Do We Have An Elite Government Essay free essay sample

, Research Paper Do we truly have a democracy? Well, society is excessively big to hold direct democracy. Even representative democracy is difficult to accomplish on such a big graduated table. Look at the elector turnout in the United States. It is lower than of all time. If ordinary citizens aren # 8217 ; t doing policy who is? One reply is the Elite Theory. The Elite Theory is a theory that states that the elite of society controls public policy. If the Elite Theory were right it would dwell of two parts. The first portion would be an uninterested populace. With the low elector turnout in the polls, some people would reason that the American people aren # 8217 ; T interested. The 2nd portion would be an Elite category that made about all of the determinations. Some bookmans argue that the rich of today would be that elect category. # 8220 ; The power elite is composed of work forces whose places enable them to exceed the ordinary environments of ordinary work forces and adult females ; they are in places to do determinations holding major effects. Whether they do or make non do such determinations is less of import that the fact that they do occupy such polar places: their failure to move, their failure to do determinations, is itself an act that is frequently of greater effects than the determinations they do do # 8221 ; ( Wright, p. 4 ) . The Elite have to hold a manner to derive entree to the political system. This can be done through the occupations of high standing that these people occupy. Their power can be used to act upon the common adult male by manner of his occupation. This is besides done by run parts. There are no bounds on the sum of money you can give to a political party. # 8220 ; Business and authorities have become more closely and explicitly connected ; neither can now be seen clearly as a distinguishable universe. Under American conditions the growing of executive authorities does non intend simply the # 8216 ; expansion of authorities # 8217 ; has some sort of independent bureaucratism ; it means the dominance of the corporation work forces into political distinction # 8221 ; ( Gerth, p.30 ) . If they give these big sums of money certainly they expect something in return. This gives the Elite much more purchase than the common adult male. All the common adult male has is one ballot and that isn # 8217 ; t even a direct ballot. The elite have the ability to donate their money. This can be 1000000s of dollars. This gives them much more entree to the political system. The determination of conditions to lose one indirect ballot versus a million dollars speaks for itself. If the # 8220 ; Establishment # 8221 ; ( Dahl, p.86 ) does be who governs us? Robert A Dahl added a 3rd reply to this inquiry. He examined several public issues and found out who made the major determinations on these issues. He examined the metropolis of New Haven. He indicated that the elect didn # 8217 ; t do the determinations. He said that some persons and groups were really influential in doing determinations on a certain type of statute law. The metropolis was dominated by many sets of leaders # 8220 ; It was in short a pluralist system. # 8221 ; ( Dahl, p.86 ) Some bookmans have criticized Dahl # 8217 ; s attack. They have said that you can # 8217 ; t ever place peopl vitamin E of power by analyzing cardinal determinations. The people of existent power don’t ever allow the determinations reach the populace. The pluralist portion of American democracy is widely recognized. Pluralism is when many groups have entree to public functionaries. These groups fight back and Forth utilizing their political entree to influence policy. The theory of Pluralism supposes people are really active in groups and their multiple involvements overlap and conflict. For illustration, person who is for building of new schools on the PTA, may be for lower revenue enhancements in the vicinity association. This is a valid theory but most groups are severely represented or left out wholly. It has been argued that Pluralism consists of viing Elites, so that even pluralism falls short of democracy. Scholars who think that America is ruled by the few are critical of elect power. They argue that the political system should be opened up to give more entree to the American people. Other bookmans claim that merely elite are dedicated to democratic rules, and that the multitudes of electors don # 8217 ; t truly care about freedom. This position diminishes the importance of the elector. This smashes the position of representative democracy. The establishing male parents may hold intended it to be like this. They were really afraid of public sentiment and they were all elect. Is it truly credible that the elite and involvement groups command our society? # 8220 ; Although elites exist in about every field of human activity, many bookmans reject the construct that a individual economic and societal elite wields ultimate political power. # 8221 ; ( Cummings, 189 ) . To an extent the inquiry over whether America is an elite or pluralist democracy may present it in footings that are excessively inflexible. As with about everything there is a mix. There are involvement groups and the elite in authorities and there are besides common people. The Elite do exercising power in and out of democracy, but in the terminal the determination still belongs to the people of the United States. In the election of the caput of the school board to the President of the United States the people still vote. In decision I think the authorities of the United States is a mix of elite, involvement groups and common people who made it. I don # 8217 ; t believe the elect theory best explains our authorities because of the mix of people. Even if the elite as a bulk controls the power, they are still traveling to look out for what # 8217 ; s best for our state. Think of our options to our signifier of authorities now. We could go communist were everyone has the same say in authorities. I bet the American people would love that. As of right now the authorities works reasonably good. It is the best authorities in the universe. If it isn # 8217 ; t broke don # 8217 ; t repair it. Even if the working adult male doesn # 8217 ; Ts have every bit much control over policy as the elite does, it may be better this manner. The working adult male doesn # 8217 ; t have the clip to sit down and chew over public policy. He is to occupy seeking to feed his household. A individual who is an elite has the clip to sit down and believe about public policy. This will take to better determinations and people will be better off in the terminal.

Explain the Impact of Organisational Policies on the Troubleshooting and Repair Process (P1) Referring to the policies related to the College’s network. Produce an audio recording for the Network manager to explain the impact of their organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process. Introduction In this documents, I am going to be explaining the impact of organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process, I am going to be talking about the organisational policies, such as considerations e.g. security, costs, systems downtime, disruption, resource allocation, prioritisation, contractual requirements, trend analysis, escalation procedures, documentation, reporting, contractual legal issues. Organisational Policies An organisational policy is expected to do many things. Primarily it should protect people and information, as well as set the rules for expected behaviour by users, system administrators, management and security personnel. It should also authorise relevant personnel to monitor, probe, investigate, define and authorise the consequences of violations, in addition to defining the company’s baseline stance on security. This can help minimise risk and help track compliance with appropriate regulations. Security This policy is mainly responsible for making sure that all the security detail such as password and user accounts are secure so you have to make sure that you are the only person that uses the account. IT systems Acceptable usage policy requires from users to log off the computer as inappropriate people could get the access to the data that they shouldn’t. The user also shouldn’t install the unauthorized software as this could lead to the issues such as making the equipment unusable by affecting it performance. The users also have to make sure that the equipment is secure during the use of it and after. The users within college are not allowed to connect they own device to the college network if they don’t get authorization from the IT Manager. Costs In term of costs the members of the staff has to make sure that they examine all the purchasing and introduce the environmental criteria to make sure that the equipment meets all the requirements and condition. They are also required to research on the equipment that they are purchasing to make sure that there is no alternatives with are better or cheaper. They also have to encourage the use of recycled paper to make sure that people don’t use it in inappropriate reasons that are not associated with the course as they are spending the college money. If the potential user with in this case is the student brake the equipment the staff have to make sure that it was reported and the person that did it will have to pay back the money for it. Systems Downtime System downtime is usually affected by many issues but they all can be prevented if the right procedures have been taken and the staffs fallow all the legislations. In this case people have to make sure that they have the right equipment for example server. They also should make regular backups so student and teachers work don’t get lost. The regular maintainer should be taken at the end of each week. System downtime could cause a lot of damage as if the system would be down user wouldn’t be able to perform they daily routine. Disruption Disruption is when something unexpected happened and person responsible for that area is not preparing for it. Organization such as College should have plan for everything so in case that something happen they have solution to repair it and prevents it from happening. For example if users lose they work organization should back them up. In order to back the files up they would have to be prepare for this to happen. Resource Allocation All the resources should be right allocated. This mean that there shouldn’t be too much of resources for one place for example you cannot add too much of the paper for the printer as the printer could damage the paper if there are too many resources than it should be the company could lose a lot of money as they might spend money on the unimportant resources. Resources should be well balanced so if the resources are not needed they shouldn’t been used. Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they might be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and at the same time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on repairing network instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual Requirements In a company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will provide coverage for the employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need to provide extra time in the evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential maintenance which may have to involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have to work will be set out for them in what is called an employment contract. They will be limited by the EU legislation and some other regulations such as working time regulations, which will provide the basic right and protections such as: A worker can be required to work at most an average of 48 hours a week (though workers can choose to work more if they want to). For night workers there is a limit of an average of 8 hours worked in 24. Night workers are entitled to receive free health assessments. All staff are entitled to 11 hours of rest a day and to one day off each week. When the working day is longer than 6 hours, workers must have an in-work rest break. Workers are entitled to 4 weeks of paid leave per year. These protections may or may not be in place. You should check your contract to find out any special conditions of service before signing. Trend Analysis The records that are kept of incidents and how these are dealt with can provide useful data how successfully the support team are running, so an organisational policy will decide the frequency of analysis and of data and exactly what type of data has to be recorded by the IT supporting team. Trends can then be identified which will then help with the formulation of the plans to provide better and more reliable hardware and software package, it may then also be used to target a form of training for the users who will need them the most. Trend analysis can then also be used to re-allocate budgets and resources to identify the hotspots. Escalation Procedures An escalation process in different support establishments vary depending on the type of service that they have. In a technical support group, this involves setting up thresholds for certain issues to be addressed at certain levels. Typically it is a tiered setup. For example, Tier 1 can handle issues that can be easily resolved by just a phone call and when the Tier1 representative feels that the issue cannot be resolved at his level (if for example the problem cannot be resolved by their team alone and needs to be addressed by other support teams/departments with higher level of authority) it is then escalated or moved to the next higher team. This way the issues are segregated depending on their severity and type of resolution. Documentation The procedures of documentation vary from one sector, or one type, to another. In general, these may involve document drafting, formatting, submitting, reviewing, approving, distributing, reposting and tracking, etc., and are convened by associated SOPs in a regulatory industry. Since a key step in the process management journey is the documentation of current processes and any exceptions to those processes, this article explores how to create a template for your process documentation guide. A template makes the process of documenting your processes repeatable. Repeatable is the word to remember here primary aspects of a process documentation guide should be easily duplicated and reused to create additional guides after the first process has been documented. This repeatability feature makes it less painful to create your documentation as you move through all the processes in an organization. It also provides readers with a common format to follow as they research or review processes within your organization. Reporting Reporting may seem like a simple exercise in transparency but it is more than that. In fact, it gives management an additional opportunity for improvement, through readers’ reactions, criticisms and suggestions. Considering stakeholder views also helps to shape strategy, goals and objectives. All the inputs from direct stakeholders should be carefully reviewed as part of a management learning process to adapt and fine-tune the company’s sustainable development objectives. Contractual Legal Issues Regardless of whether you use an agency or not, you will require some  knowledge of contract law and the ability to negotiate a suitable agreement. IR35 should be at the forefront of your mind throughout this process if you are to keep as much as possible of your pay packet out of the clutches of the taxman. On the most basic level, any agreement reached with a client must make clear that you are a contractor and not an employee. This distinction should be clear in both the contract and your modus operandi. Primarily, your contract should define exactly what you are agreeing to do for the client. In contrast to an employee, whose work may not be defined at all in the contract, you must make sure that the document clearly lays out the service or services that you are to provide. Conclusion So in conclusion, this document has been explaining the impact of organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process, I am going to be talking about the organisational policies, such as considerations e.g. security, costs, systems downtime, disruption, resource allocation, prioritisation, contractual requirements, trend analysis, escalation procedures, documentation, reporting, contractual legal issues. Hopefully, this would help an organisation in the process of troubleshooting and repair.
